OK, I’m laughing out loud. And I needed that this morning; it’s been a little crazy around here. :-)!!

It’s Elsei Mae the elephant seal. She’s been in the area since 16 June and has finished her annual molt so she is expected to leave soon to go back out to the middle of the Pacific Ocean to eat. When on land, they don’t eat at all. She’s gotten thin but that’s the way this species „works.“ About 4 days ago she swam overnight to a neighboring island, one you can only reach by riding a short, small ferry. This morning she was „missing“ but then she was found about .5 miles down the beach, in front of someone’s house on their lawn. She looked like she might go onto the road. Joe & I are scheduled to go over there to watch & protect her this afternoon so we were wondering how it would all work out. The morning volunteers gently persuaded her to go back to the beach, where it was safer. Yea! We hope she stays there at least until we get there!

That’s really an exciting situation, and I intensly hope you can convince her to have a look at the picnic waiting in the Middle Pacific for her.

We failed to do that…we did have to run up the beach a little when she decided to swim to a different spot…it was an exhausting day but probably the last time we see her…until she returns for a rest, to give birth, or for another molt.

Da hast Du uns aber kein X für ein U vorgemacht, sondern nimmst ein X als ein X – gescheitert? Mitnichten! Wie solltest Du am X auch scheitern können, X ist einfach beliebig zu finden, x-beliebig eben. Es ist halt doch so ein Kreuz (!) mit diesem X …

Ich finde es so klasse, wie du hier ein X-Feuerwerk abbrennst!
Mit den religiösen Symbolen hab ich es ja nicht so, aber in diesem Foto war es wohl unvermeidlich – danke, dass du es in den weltlich- etymologischen Kontext zurückholst.

äh … Wegweiser in den Himmel 🙂
Mir gefällt die wuchtige Konstruktion als Gegenmodell zum Baum sehr gut, nur habe ich keine Vorstellung, was es ist. Muss ja aber auch nicht sein 😉

Es ist die Südostecke der Unterkonstruktion unseres Balkons 😉 … und ein X (oder zwei?)
